Table of Contents

Planning a great outdoor deck means you’ll have to look at some composite decking brands. Today, composites are tough to beat in terms of resistance and durability, but all different brands offer different advantages. Here’s an overview of one of our favourite composite: Deckorators™.

Is Deckorators™ Good?

Deckorators composite is a very high-quality material of polymer plastic fibres and mineral fibre. Extremely solid, this material is practically impossible to break. Since there’s no organic material at all, it simply can’t rot. This means that Deckorators™ composite can be used on and in water, and it can also be placed directly on soil. You can even use it for flower beds. It’s that resistant to soil and humidity.

The brand also comes with a 25-year warranty against wear and tear and a 50-year warranty for the structure.

The mineral fibres create a very light material, which can make a huge difference in construction. With a weight that is 25% lighter than similar materials, Deckorators™ installation is much less of a struggle. It also won’t contract and retract much during temperature changes, which supports its longevity.

When it comes to comfort, Deckorators™ remains cool in summer thanks to a composition that doesn’t retain much heat.

Overall, it’s a very good composite suitable for most projects.

Deckorators™ composite decking comes in two product lines: a traditional line and the Voyage series.

The traditional line is made from 95% recycled plastic and sawdust, making it a sustainable and eco-friendly option with a timeless style. Each board is coated with a protective layer that resists stains and fading, ensuring minimal maintenance and an impeccable appearance for years. This line also comes with a 25-year structural warranty, as well as a stain and fade warranty, for complete peace of mind.

The Voyage series, on the other hand, stands out for its innovative composition made of polymer plastic fibers and mineral fibers. This material is particularly strong and nearly unbreakable. Since it contains no organic material, it will not rot, even when in direct contact with water or soil. This makes it an ideal choice for projects located in humid environments or near water, such as garden beds and borders.

Thanks to its mineral-based composition, this series is 25% lighter than traditional composites, making the Voyage Deckorators™ installation easier while offering exceptional durability. Additionally, it expands and contracts much less during temperature fluctuations, which extends its lifespan.

The Voyage series also comes with a 25-year wear warranty and a 50-year structural warranty.

In terms of comfort, the Voyage series excels due to its ability to retain significantly less heat, providing a pleasant surface under the sun, even in summer.

Whether you choose the traditional line for its ecological commitment and lasting beauty or the Voyage series for its innovative performance, Deckorators™ allows you to create outdoor spaces that are both stylish, durable, and environmentally friendly.

How To Maintain Deckorators™ Decking?

Composite deck boards are generally very easy to maintain, especially compared to wood, which might need sanding and sealing every year.

However, even though maintenance is minimal, taking care of your Deckorators™ composite decking will ensure you’ll keep it for decades.

Regularly sweep to avoid debris, dead leaves and other things. Even though Deckorators™ doesn’t rot, keeping debris off will help you prevent stains or the need for deeper cleaning.

Cleaning as needed is best, but you can also add regular cleaning to keep it fresh. You can simply use a gentle soap, water, and a rag or mop to do so. There are specific cleaners and brighteners for composite that you could use on your Deckorators™ deck, but check with the manufacturer or any expert before. For tougher spots, you can use a soft brush. Even though Deckorators™ is resistant to scratch, it is advised to avoid using harsh or metal brushes. You can use a power wash, but make sure to put it at the lowest setting.

Another tip is to avoid leaving rubber or vinyl items on the deck, as they can leave residues. Also, protect your deck if you are doing painting jobs around it or other work that could stain or damage it. Use a plastic shovel in winter instead of a metal one, as this is another easy way to avoid damage.

What Is Deckorators™ Best For?

Deckorators™ Voyage is excellent in many contexts. Frankly, there aren’t times when they shouldn’t be used. However, there are projects for which the Voyage series from Deckorators™ is truly at its best.

Since it’s very resistant to water and soil, it’s a fantastic option for flower beds or for creating a gardening space. It can also be used underwater, so any quay for your cabin or little path that gets flooded during spring will last for decades.

Since maintenance is low and replacement isn’t likely needed, it’s the perfect material to reduce the time spent on such work. It’s ideal for your home and any secondary home or short-term renting project.

In addition to its water resistance, it also won’t expand or contract much during temperature changes, which is even more reason to use Deckorators™ in Canada and Quebec.

The brand also offers much flexibility in terms of designs, especially with the Deckorators™ Voyage series. You’ll find five Deckorators™ colours: Sedona, Sierra, Tundra, Costa and Khaya. There are also four board width options (3.5 in, 5.5 in, 7.25 in and 9.25 in) and three length options (12, 16 or 20 feet). You also have grooved or non-grooved options; the boards can be used with hidden fasteners.

Does Deckorators™ Decking Get Hot?

It’s a known fact that some composites aren’t meant to be used for a deck that receives too much direct sun during the summer. However, it’s not the case with the Voyage Deckorators™ decking. The material that mixes polymer and mineral fibres reflects infrared rays, meaning the deck will remain comfortable for bare feet and paws. There’s a micro-embossing on the board’s surface, which reduces the heat sensation even more.

Why Choose Deckorators™

Deckorators™ is a great brand of composite, and we are proud to use it in our projects. Of course, not all composites are perfect for all decks and situations, so don’t hesitate to contact us. We’ll be happy to help you find the perfect material for your outdoor space.
